परलोकस्त्वयं लोको जीयते भार्य या द्वयम् ॥ देवपित्रतिथीज्यादि नाभार्यः कर्म चार्हति ॥६६॥
The present and the next world can be won through her. A wifeless man is not authorized to perform the rites of gods, Pitṛs guests and sacrifices.
english translation
गृहस्थस्स हि विज्ञेयो यस्य गेहे पतिव्रता ॥ ग्रस्यतेऽन्यान्प्रतिदिनं राक्षस्या जरया यथा ॥ ६७ ॥
He alone is the true householder in whose house there is a chaste lady. The others are devoured by an ogress or old age.
english translation
यथा गंगावगाहेन शरीरं पावनं भवेत् ॥ तथा पतिव्रतां दृष्ट्वा सकलम्पावनं भवेत् ॥ ६८ ॥
Just as the body is purified by a plunge in the Gaṅgā, so everything is sanctified on seeing a chaste woman.
english translation
न गङ्गाया तया भेदो या नारी पतिदेवता ॥ उमाशिवसमौ साक्षात्तस्मात्तौ पूजयेद्बुधः ॥६९॥
A chaste lady is not different from Gaṅgā. She and her husband are like Pārvatī and Śiva. Hence a sensible man shall worship them.
english translation
तारः पतिश्श्रुतिर्नारी क्षमा सा स स्वयन्तपः ॥ फलम्पतिः सत्क्रिया सा धन्यौ तौ दम्पती शिवे ॥2-3-54-७०॥
The husband is the high tone and the wife is the quarter tone. The husband is austerity and the woman is forbearance. The husband is the fruit and the wife is a sacred rite. O Pārvatī, such a pair is blessed.
