    [य] यत तवं मे हृदयाज जातॊ वयः सवं न परयच्छसि तस्मात परजा समुच्छेदं तुर्वसॊ तव यास्यति ॥ १-७९-११ ॥[ya] yata tavaM me hRdayAja jAtò vayaH savaM na parayacchasi tasmAta parajA samucchedaM turvasò tava yAsyati ॥ 1-79-11 ॥'Yayati told him, "You are born from my heart, my son! Yet you do not grant me your youth! Therefore, O Turvasu, your lineage shall cease to exist."' ॥ 1-79-11 ॥

    घ्राणेन सूकरो हन्ति पक्षवातेन कुक्कुटः । श्वा तु दृष्टिनिपातेन स्पर्शेणावरवर्णजः ॥ २४१ ॥ghrANena sUkaro hanti pakSavAtena kukkuTaH । zvA tu dRSTinipAtena sparzeNAvaravarNajaH ॥ 241 ॥A boar makes (the rite) useless by inhaling the smell (of the offerings), a cock by the air of his wings, a dog by throwing his eye (on them), a low-caste man by touching (them).

    होमे प्रदाने भोज्ये च यदेभिरभिवीक्ष्यते । दैवे हविषि पित्र्ये वा तद् गच्छत्ययथातथम् ॥ २४० ॥home pradAne bhojye ca yadebhirabhivIkSyate । daive haviSi pitrye vA tad gacchatyayathAtatham ॥ 240 ॥What (any of) these sees at a burnt-oblation, at a (solemn) gift, at a dinner (given to Brahmanas), or at any rite in honour of the gods and manes, that produces not the intended result.

    पिता यस्य निवृत्तः स्याज् जीवेच्चापि पितामहः । पितुः स नाम सङ्कीर्त्य कीर्तयेत् प्रपितामहम् ॥ २२१ ॥pitA yasya nivRttaH syAj jIveccApi pitAmahaH । pituH sa nAma saGkIrtya kIrtayet prapitAmaham ॥ 221 ॥But he whose father is dead, while his grandfather lives, shall, after pronouncing his father’s name, mention (that of) his great-grandfather.

And she brought forth as her first child a fine boy.' ॥ 1-77-5 ॥

One who masquerades as something he is not, deceives himself akin to being his own thief and plunderer.' ॥ 1-68-25 ॥

The intermittent glances she directed towards the king appeared to scorch him with their intensity.' ॥ 1-68-21 ॥
