अधि॒ यद॑स्मिन्वा॒जिनी॑व॒ शुभ॒: स्पर्ध॑न्ते॒ धिय॒: सूर्ये॒ न विश॑: । अ॒पो वृ॑णा॒नः प॑वते कवी॒यन्व्र॒जं न प॑शु॒वर्ध॑नाय॒ मन्म॑ ॥ अधि यदस्मिन्वाजिनीव शुभः स्पर्धन्ते धियः सूर्ये न विशः । अपो वृणानः पवते कवीयन्व्रजं न पशुवर्धनाय मन्म ॥

sanskrit

When the fingers vie with each other in this (Soma), as the trappings on a horse or the rays in the sun, clothed in the waters he flows desiring his worshippers like (a cowherd going to) a pleasant cow-stall for the nourishment of his cattle.

english translation

adhi॒ yada॑sminvA॒jinI॑va॒ zubha॒: spardha॑nte॒ dhiya॒: sUrye॒ na viza॑: | a॒po vR॑NA॒naH pa॑vate kavI॒yanvra॒jaM na pa॑zu॒vardha॑nAya॒ manma॑ || adhi yadasminvAjinIva zubhaH spardhante dhiyaH sUrye na vizaH | apo vRNAnaH pavate kavIyanvrajaM na pazuvardhanAya manma ||

द्वि॒ता व्यू॒र्ण्वन्न॒मृत॑स्य॒ धाम॑ स्व॒र्विदे॒ भुव॑नानि प्रथन्त । धिय॑: पिन्वा॒नाः स्वस॑रे॒ न गाव॑ ऋता॒यन्ती॑र॒भि वा॑वश्र॒ इन्दु॑म् ॥ द्विता व्यूर्ण्वन्नमृतस्य धाम स्वर्विदे भुवनानि प्रथन्त । धियः पिन्वानाः स्वसरे न गाव ऋतायन्तीरभि वावश्र इन्दुम् ॥

Openingout the abode of the ambrosia on both sides (he passes between); for him, the omniscient, the worlds expand. Gratifying laudations eager for the sacrifice, call upon Indu, like kine (lowing) towards their stall.

dvi॒tA vyU॒rNvanna॒mRta॑sya॒ dhAma॑ sva॒rvide॒ bhuva॑nAni prathanta | dhiya॑: pinvA॒nAH svasa॑re॒ na gAva॑ RtA॒yantI॑ra॒bhi vA॑vazra॒ indu॑m || dvitA vyUrNvannamRtasya dhAma svarvide bhuvanAni prathanta | dhiyaH pinvAnAH svasare na gAva RtAyantIrabhi vAvazra indum ||

hk transliteration

परि॒ यत्क॒विः काव्या॒ भर॑ते॒ शूरो॒ न रथो॒ भुव॑नानि॒ विश्वा॑ । दे॒वेषु॒ यशो॒ मर्ता॑य॒ भूष॒न्दक्षा॑य रा॒यः पु॑रु॒भूषु॒ नव्य॑: ॥ परि यत्कविः काव्या भरते शूरो न रथो भुवनानि विश्वा । देवेषु यशो मर्ताय भूषन्दक्षाय रायः पुरुभूषु नव्यः ॥

When the sage Soma goes round the praises (of the wise) like a hostile chariot (going round) all the regions (of the battle-field), then desirous of bestowing upon mortals the wealth that abides with the gods, he (is) tobe glorified in the many plural ces of sacrifice for the preservation of the riches he has given.

english translation

pari॒ yatka॒viH kAvyA॒ bhara॑te॒ zUro॒ na ratho॒ bhuva॑nAni॒ vizvA॑ | de॒veSu॒ yazo॒ martA॑ya॒ bhUSa॒ndakSA॑ya rA॒yaH pu॑ru॒bhUSu॒ navya॑: || pari yatkaviH kAvyA bharate zUro na ratho bhuvanAni vizvA | deveSu yazo martAya bhUSandakSAya rAyaH purubhUSu navyaH ||

श्रि॒ये जा॒तः श्रि॒य आ निरि॑याय॒ श्रियं॒ वयो॑ जरि॒तृभ्यो॑ दधाति । श्रियं॒ वसा॑ना अमृत॒त्वमा॑य॒न्भव॑न्ति स॒त्या स॑मि॒था मि॒तद्रौ॑ ॥ श्रिये जातः श्रिय आ निरियाय श्रियं वयो जरितृभ्यो दधाति । श्रियं वसाना अमृतत्वमायन्भवन्ति सत्या समिथा मितद्रौ ॥

He (is) genitive rated for prosperity, for prosperity he issues forth, he gives prosperity (and) sustenance to those who praise him; clothing themselves in (his) prosperity, they obtain immortality; their conflicts are successful through the aid of (the Soma) who moves with measured tread.

zri॒ye jA॒taH zri॒ya A niri॑yAya॒ zriyaM॒ vayo॑ jari॒tRbhyo॑ dadhAti | zriyaM॒ vasA॑nA amRta॒tvamA॑ya॒nbhava॑nti sa॒tyA sa॑mi॒thA mi॒tadrau॑ || zriye jAtaH zriya A niriyAya zriyaM vayo jaritRbhyo dadhAti | zriyaM vasAnA amRtatvamAyanbhavanti satyA samithA mitadrau ||

इष॒मूर्ज॑म॒भ्य१॒॑र्षाश्वं॒ गामु॒रु ज्योति॑: कृणुहि॒ मत्सि॑ दे॒वान् । विश्वा॑नि॒ हि सु॒षहा॒ तानि॒ तुभ्यं॒ पव॑मान॒ बाध॑से सोम॒ शत्रू॑न् ॥ इषमूर्जमभ्यर्षाश्वं गामुरु ज्योतिः कृणुहि मत्सि देवान् । विश्वानि हि सुषहा तानि तुभ्यं पवमान बाधसे सोम शत्रून् ॥

Bring us food and drink, horses, cattle and ample light, exhilarate the gods; for all (the rākṣasas) are easily subdued by you; Soma Pavamāna, destroy (all) foes.

iSa॒mUrja॑ma॒bhya1॒॑rSAzvaM॒ gAmu॒ru jyoti॑: kRNuhi॒ matsi॑ de॒vAn | vizvA॑ni॒ hi su॒SahA॒ tAni॒ tubhyaM॒ pava॑mAna॒ bAdha॑se soma॒ zatrU॑n || iSamUrjamabhyarSAzvaM gAmuru jyotiH kRNuhi matsi devAn | vizvAni hi suSahA tAni tubhyaM pavamAna bAdhase soma zatrUn ||
