आ होता॑ म॒न्द्रो वि॒दथा॑न्यस्थात्स॒त्यो यज्वा॑ क॒वित॑म॒: स वे॒धाः । वि॒द्युद्र॑थ॒: सह॑सस्पु॒त्रो अ॒ग्निः शो॒चिष्के॑शः पृथि॒व्यां पाजो॑ अश्रेत् ॥ आ होता मन्द्रो विदथान्यस्थात्सत्यो यज्वा कवितमः स वेधाः । विद्युद्रथः सहसस्पुत्रो अग्निः शोचिष्केशः पृथिव्यां पाजो अश्रेत् ॥

sanskrit

The invoker (of the gods), the exhilarator (of his worshippers), the true, the offerer of sacrifice, the most wise, the creator, is present at our sacred rites. Agni, the son of strength, whose chariot is the lightning, whose hair is flame, manifests his glory on the earth.

english translation

A hotA॑ ma॒ndro vi॒dathA॑nyasthAtsa॒tyo yajvA॑ ka॒vita॑ma॒: sa ve॒dhAH | vi॒dyudra॑tha॒: saha॑saspu॒tro a॒gniH zo॒ciSke॑zaH pRthi॒vyAM pAjo॑ azret || A hotA mandro vidathAnyasthAtsatyo yajvA kavitamaH sa vedhAH | vidyudrathaH sahasasputro agniH zociSkezaH pRthivyAM pAjo azret ||

अया॑मि ते॒ नम॑उक्तिं जुषस्व॒ ऋता॑व॒स्तुभ्यं॒ चेत॑ते सहस्वः । वि॒द्वाँ आ व॑क्षि वि॒दुषो॒ नि ष॑त्सि॒ मध्य॒ आ ब॒र्हिरू॒तये॑ यजत्र ॥ अयामि ते नमउक्तिं जुषस्व ऋतावस्तुभ्यं चेतते सहस्वः । विद्वाँ आ वक्षि विदुषो नि षत्सि मध्य आ बर्हिरूतये यजत्र ॥

I utter to you the words of adoration, be plural ased by them observer of truth; endowed with strength, (they are addressed) to you who are the expounder (of sacred rites); wise (as you are), bring (hither) the wise; object of sacrifice, sit down in the midst upon the sacred grass for our protection.

english translation

ayA॑mi te॒ nama॑uktiM juSasva॒ RtA॑va॒stubhyaM॒ ceta॑te sahasvaH | vi॒dvA~ A va॑kSi vi॒duSo॒ ni Sa॑tsi॒ madhya॒ A ba॒rhirU॒taye॑ yajatra || ayAmi te namauktiM juSasva RtAvastubhyaM cetate sahasvaH | vidvA~ A vakSi viduSo ni Satsi madhya A barhirUtaye yajatra ||

द्रव॑तां त उ॒षसा॑ वा॒जय॑न्ती॒ अग्ने॒ वात॑स्य प॒थ्या॑भि॒रच्छ॑ । यत्सी॑म॒ञ्जन्ति॑ पू॒र्व्यं ह॒विर्भि॒रा व॒न्धुरे॑व तस्थतुर्दुरो॒णे ॥ द्रवतां त उषसा वाजयन्ती अग्ने वातस्य पथ्याभिरच्छ । यत्सीमञ्जन्ति पूर्व्यं हविर्भिरा वन्धुरेव तस्थतुर्दुरोणे ॥

May the good-bestowing day and night hasten to you while you, Agni meet them on the paths of the wind; since (the priests) ever worship you preceding (them) with oblations, whilst they (united) like the pole (and the yoke of a wagon), abide successively in our dwelling.

english translation

मि॒त्रश्च॒ तुभ्यं॒ वरु॑णः सह॒स्वोऽग्ने॒ विश्वे॑ म॒रुत॑: सु॒म्नम॑र्चन् । यच्छो॒चिषा॑ सहसस्पुत्र॒ तिष्ठा॑ अ॒भि क्षि॒तीः प्र॒थय॒न्त्सूर्यो॒ नॄन् ॥ मित्रश्च तुभ्यं वरुणः सहस्वोऽग्ने विश्वे मरुतः सुम्नमर्चन् । यच्छोचिषा सहसस्पुत्र तिष्ठा अभि क्षितीः प्रथयन्त्सूर्यो नॄन् ॥

Vigorous Agni, you Mitra and Varuṇa, and all the Maruts, offer praise; since, son of strength, you stand a sun, shedding your rays with lustre on manking.

व॒यं ते॑ अ॒द्य र॑रि॒मा हि काम॑मुत्ता॒नह॑स्ता॒ नम॑सोप॒सद्य॑ । यजि॑ष्ठेन॒ मन॑सा यक्षि दे॒वानस्रे॑धता॒ मन्म॑ना॒ विप्रो॑ अग्ने ॥ वयं ते अद्य ररिमा हि काममुत्तानहस्ता नमसोपसद्य । यजिष्ठेन मनसा यक्षि देवानस्रेधता मन्मना विप्रो अग्ने ॥

With uplifted hands, approaching you with reverence we present you today our oblation do you who are wise, worship the gods with most devout mind and with unwearied praise.

Verses 6-10
