प्र वो॑ य॒ह्वं पु॑रू॒णां वि॒शां दे॑वय॒तीना॑म् । अ॒ग्निं सू॒क्तेभि॒र्वचो॑भिरीमहे॒ यं सी॒मिद॒न्य ईळ॑ते ॥ प्र वो यह्वं पुरूणां विशां देवयतीनाम् । अग्निं सूक्तेभिर्वचोभिरीमहे यं सीमिदन्य ईळते ॥

sanskrit

We implore with sacred hymns the mighty Agni, whom other (ṛṣis) also praise, for the benefit of you who are many people, worshipping the gods of you who are many people, worshipping the gods.

english translation

pra vo॑ ya॒hvaM pu॑rU॒NAM vi॒zAM de॑vaya॒tInA॑m | a॒gniM sU॒ktebhi॒rvaco॑bhirImahe॒ yaM sI॒mida॒nya ILa॑te || pra vo yahvaM purUNAM vizAM devayatInAm | agniM sUktebhirvacobhirImahe yaM sImidanya ILate ||

जना॑सो अ॒ग्निं द॑धिरे सहो॒वृधं॑ ह॒विष्म॑न्तो विधेम ते । स त्वं नो॑ अ॒द्य सु॒मना॑ इ॒हावि॒ता भवा॒ वाजे॑षु सन्त्य ॥ जनासो अग्निं दधिरे सहोवृधं हविष्मन्तो विधेम ते । स त्वं नो अद्य सुमना इहाविता भवा वाजेषु सन्त्य ॥

sanskrit

Men have recourse to Agni, the augmenter of vigour; offering oblations, we worship you; do you liberal giver of food, be well disposed to us here this day, and be our protector.

english translation

janA॑so a॒gniM da॑dhire saho॒vRdhaM॑ ha॒viSma॑nto vidhema te | sa tvaM no॑ a॒dya su॒manA॑ i॒hAvi॒tA bhavA॒ vAje॑Su santya || janAso agniM dadhire sahovRdhaM haviSmanto vidhema te | sa tvaM no adya sumanA ihAvitA bhavA vAjeSu santya ||

प्र त्वा॑ दू॒तं वृ॑णीमहे॒ होता॑रं वि॒श्ववे॑दसम् । म॒हस्ते॑ स॒तो वि च॑रन्त्य॒र्चयो॑ दि॒वि स्पृ॑शन्ति भा॒नव॑: ॥ प्र त्वा दूतं वृणीमहे होतारं विश्ववेदसम् । महस्ते सतो वि चरन्त्यर्चयो दिवि स्पृशन्ति भानवः ॥

sanskrit

We select you, Agni, the messenger and invoker of the gods, who are endowed with all knowledge. The flames of you, who are mighty and eternal, spread around the rays, touch of the heavens.

english translation

pra tvA॑ dU॒taM vR॑NImahe॒ hotA॑raM vi॒zvave॑dasam | ma॒haste॑ sa॒to vi ca॑rantya॒rcayo॑ di॒vi spR॑zanti bhA॒nava॑: || pra tvA dUtaM vRNImahe hotAraM vizvavedasam | mahaste sato vi carantyarcayo divi spRzanti bhAnavaH ||

दे॒वास॑स्त्वा॒ वरु॑णो मि॒त्रो अ॑र्य॒मा सं दू॒तं प्र॒त्नमि॑न्धते । विश्वं॒ सो अ॑ग्ने जयति॒ त्वया॒ धनं॒ यस्ते॑ द॒दाश॒ मर्त्य॑: ॥ देवासस्त्वा वरुणो मित्रो अर्यमा सं दूतं प्रत्नमिन्धते । विश्वं सो अग्ने जयति त्वया धनं यस्ते ददाश मर्त्यः ॥

sanskrit

The deities Varuṇa, Mitra and Aryaman kindle you, (their) ancient messenger. The man who has offered you (oblations), obtains through you, Agni, universal wealth.

english translation

de॒vAsa॑stvA॒ varu॑No mi॒tro a॑rya॒mA saM dU॒taM pra॒tnami॑ndhate | vizvaM॒ so a॑gne jayati॒ tvayA॒ dhanaM॒ yaste॑ da॒dAza॒ martya॑: || devAsastvA varuNo mitro aryamA saM dUtaM pratnamindhate | vizvaM so agne jayati tvayA dhanaM yaste dadAza martyaH ||

म॒न्द्रो होता॑ गृ॒हप॑ति॒रग्ने॑ दू॒तो वि॒शाम॑सि । त्वे विश्वा॒ संग॑तानि व्र॒ता ध्रु॒वा यानि॑ दे॒वा अकृ॑ण्वत ॥ मन्द्रो होता गृहपतिरग्ने दूतो विशामसि । त्वे विश्वा संगतानि व्रता ध्रुवा यानि देवा अकृण्वत ॥

sanskrit

You, Agni, are the giver of delight, the invoker and messenger of the gods, the domestic guardian of mankind; the good and durable actions which the gods perform are all aggregated in you.

english translation

ma॒ndro hotA॑ gR॒hapa॑ti॒ragne॑ dU॒to vi॒zAma॑si | tve vizvA॒ saMga॑tAni vra॒tA dhru॒vA yAni॑ de॒vA akR॑Nvata || mandro hotA gRhapatiragne dUto vizAmasi | tve vizvA saMgatAni vratA dhruvA yAni devA akRNvata ||
