उ॒षा उ॒च्छन्ती॑ समिधा॒ने अ॒ग्ना उ॒द्यन्त्सूर्य॑ उर्वि॒या ज्योति॑रश्रेत् । दे॒वो नो॒ अत्र॑ सवि॒ता न्वर्थं॒ प्रासा॑वीद्द्वि॒पत्प्र चतु॑ष्पदि॒त्यै ॥ उषा उच्छन्ती समिधाने अग्ना उद्यन्त्सूर्य उर्विया ज्योतिरश्रेत् । देवो नो अत्र सविता न्वर्थं प्रासावीद्द्विपत्प्र चतुष्पदित्यै ॥

When the (sacred) fire is kindled, Uṣā sheds abundant light, dispersing (the darkness) like the rising sun; may the divine Savitābestow upon usfor our use, wealth of both bipeds and quadrupeds.

अमि॑नती॒ दैव्या॑नि व्र॒तानि॑ प्रमिन॒ती म॑नु॒ष्या॑ यु॒गानि॑ । ई॒युषी॑णामुप॒मा शश्व॑तीनामायती॒नां प्र॑थ॒मोषा व्य॑द्यौत् ॥ अमिनती दैव्यानि व्रतानि प्रमिनती मनुष्या युगानि । ईयुषीणामुपमा शश्वतीनामायतीनां प्रथमोषा व्यद्यौत् ॥

Unimpeding divine rites, although wearing away the ages of mankind, the dawn shines the similitude of the (mornings) that have passed, or that are to be forever, the first of those that are to come.

ए॒षा दि॒वो दु॑हि॒ता प्रत्य॑दर्शि॒ ज्योति॒र्वसा॑ना सम॒ना पु॒रस्ता॑त् । ऋ॒तस्य॒ पन्था॒मन्वे॑ति सा॒धु प्र॑जान॒तीव॒ न दिशो॑ मिनाति ॥ एषा दिवो दुहिता प्रत्यदर्शि ज्योतिर्वसाना समना पुरस्तात् । ऋतस्य पन्थामन्वेति साधु प्रजानतीव न दिशो मिनाति ॥

She, the daughter of heaven, is beheld in the east, gracious and arrayed in light; she travels steadily along the path of the sun, as if cognizant (of his plural asure), and damages not the quarters (of the horizon).

उपो॑ अदर्शि शु॒न्ध्युवो॒ न वक्षो॑ नो॒धा इ॑वा॒विर॑कृत प्रि॒याणि॑ । अ॒द्म॒सन्न स॑स॒तो बो॒धय॑न्ती शश्वत्त॒मागा॒त्पुन॑रे॒युषी॑णाम् ॥ उपो अदर्शि शुन्ध्युवो न वक्षो नोधा इवाविरकृत प्रियाणि । अद्मसन्न ससतो बोधयन्ती शश्वत्तमागात्पुनरेयुषीणाम् ॥

She is beheld nigh at hand, (radiant) as the breast of the illuminator (the sun); and, like Nodhas, has made manifest many plural asing (objects); like a matron she awakens (her) sleeping (children), and of all (feminine les who are) stirring betimes, she, the most unvarying, repeatedly appears.

पूर्वे॒ अर्धे॒ रज॑सो अ॒प्त्यस्य॒ गवां॒ जनि॑त्र्यकृत॒ प्र के॒तुम् । व्यु॑ प्रथते वित॒रं वरी॑य॒ ओभा पृ॒णन्ती॑ पि॒त्रोरु॒पस्था॑ ॥ पूर्वे अर्धे रजसो अप्त्यस्य गवां जनित्र्यकृत प्र केतुम् । व्यु प्रथते वितरं वरीय ओभा पृणन्ती पित्रोरुपस्था ॥

Born in the eastern quarter of the spacious firmament, she displays a banner of rays of light. plural ced on the lap of both parents (heaven and earth), filling them (with radiance), she enjoys vast and wide-spread renown.
