अमोघशापैः शप्तस्तु दत्तो ऽस्य मुनिभिः पुरा । न वेत्ता हि बलं येन बली सन्निरिमर्दनः ॥ 7-35-16 ॥
He was cursed of old by the sages with curses that never fail, so that, though mighty and a crusher of foes, he does not know his own strength.
english translation
बाल्ये ऽप्येतेन यत्कर्म कृतं राम महाबल । तन्न वर्णयितुं शक्यमिति बालतया ऽ ऽस्यते ॥ 7-35-17 ॥
The deeds that he performed even in his childhood, O Rama of great strength, cannot be described; yet, because of his being but a child, they are spoken of.
english translation
यदि वा ऽस्ति त्वभिप्रायस्तच्छ्रोतुं तव राघव । समाधाय मतिं राम निशामय वदाम्यहम् ॥ 7-35-18 ॥
And if you have a wish to hear of it, O Raghava, then compose your mind, O Rama, and listen, for I shall tell it.
english translation
सूर्यदत्तवरस्वर्णः सुमेरुर्नाम पर्वतः । यत्र राज्यं प्रशास्त्यस्य केसरी नाम वै पिता ॥ 7-35-19 ॥
There is a mountain named Sumeru, whose gold was granted as a boon by the Sun; there one named Kesari, his father, rules the kingdom.
english translation
तस्य भार्या बभूवैषा ह्यञ्जनेति परिश्रुता । जनयामास तस्यां वै वायुरात्मजमुत्तमम् ॥ 7-35-20 ॥
His wife was this one renowned as Anjana; and upon her the Wind-god begot this excellent son.
