किमर्थं वाल्यनेनैव सुग्रीवप्रियकाम्यया । तदा वैरे समुत्पन्ने न दग्धो वीरुधो यथा ॥ 7-35-11 ॥

Why, then, out of his desire to do what was dear to Sugriva, did he not burn up Vali like a shrub at the time when the enmity arose?

english translation

नहि वेदितवान्मन्ये हनूमानात्मनो बलम् । यद्दृष्टवाञ्जीवितेष्टं क्लिश्यन्तं वानराधिपम् ॥ 7-35-12 ॥

I think Hanuman did not know his own strength, in that he watched the lord of the vanaras, dear to him as life, being afflicted.

english translation

एतन्मे भगवन्सर्वं हनूमति महामतौ । विस्तरेण यथातत्त्वं कथयामरपूजित ॥ 7-35-13 ॥

Tell me all this in full and as it truly is concerning the great-minded Hanuman, O blessed one, O you who are honored by the gods.

english translation

राघवस्य वचः श्रुत्वा हेतुयुक्तमृषिस्तदा । हनूमतः समक्षं तमिदं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥ 7-35-14 ॥

Having heard Raghava's reasoned words, the sage then spoke this speech in the very presence of Hanuman.

english translation

सत्यमेतद्रघुश्रेष्ठ यद्ब्रवीषि हनूमतः । न बले विद्यते तुल्यो न गतौ न मतौ परः ॥ 7-35-15 ॥

This that you say of Hanuman is true, O best of the Raghus; there is none equal to him in strength, none surpassing him in motion or in intellect.
