रावणो राक्षसश्रेष्ठः किं चापि करवाणि ते । साब्रवीद्यदि मे राजन्प्रसन्नस्त्वं महाभुज । भर्तारं न ममेहाद्य हन्तुर्महसि मानद ॥ 7-25-41 ॥

Ravana, best of the Rakshasas, said: What indeed may I do for you? She replied: If you are pleased with me, O king, O mighty-armed one, then, O bestower of honor, you ought not today to slay my husband here.

english translation

न हीदृशं भयं किञ्चित्कुलस्त्रीणामिहोच्यते । भयानामपि सर्वेषां वैधव्यं व्यसनं महत् ॥ 7-25-42 ॥

For no fear like this is spoken of here for women of good family; of all fears, widowhood is the great calamity.

english translation

सत्यवाग्भव राजेन्द्र मामवेक्षस्व याचतीम् । त्वयाप्युक्तं महाराज न भेतव्यमिति स्वयम् ॥ 7-25-43 ॥

Be true to your word, O lord of kings; look upon me as I entreat you. By you too, O great king, it was said of your own accord, You must not be afraid.

रावणस्त्वब्रवीद्धृष्टः स्वसारं तत्र संस्थिताम् । क्व चासौ तव भर्ता वै मम शीघ्रं निवेद्यताम् ॥ 7-25-44 ॥

Then Ravana, delighted, said to his sister standing there: And where is this husband of yours? Let it be told to me quickly.

english translation

सह तेन गमिष्यामि सुरलोकं जयावहे । तव कारुण्यसौहार्दान्निवृत्तो ऽस्मि मधोर्वधात् ॥ 7-25-45 ॥

Together with him I shall go to the world of the gods, that we may win victory. Out of compassion and affection for you, I desist from the slaying of Madhu.
