The experts should also use the mouth in conformity with the varieties of Glances such as, Sama and Sācī and the like mentioned by others.

स्वाभाविकः प्रसन्नश्च रक्तः श्यामोऽर्थसंश्रयः । स्वाभाविकस्तु कर्तव्यः स्वभावाभिनयाश्रयः ॥ १६३॥

natural (svābhāvika) bright (prasanna), reddened (rakta) and dark (śyāma). Natural face—in a natural and indifferent (mood).

मध्यस्थादिषु भावेषु मुखरागः प्रयोक्तृभिः । प्रसन्नस्त्वद्भुते कार्यो हास्यश‍ृङ्गारयोस्तथा ॥ १६४॥

For neutral and similar states, the facial complexion should be natural. In the wondrous (adbhuta) sentiment, it should be bright, and in the comic (hāsya) and erotic (śṛṅgāra) sentiments, it should also be pleasant.

Reddened face—in intoxication and in the Heroic, the Terrible and the Pathetic Sentiments. Dark face—in the Terrible and the Odious Sentiments.
