एव नामेति कार्यं च कोपवाक्ये विचक्षणैः । समं साच्यनुवृत्तादि यच्च दृष्टिविकल्पितम् ॥ १६१॥
The experts should also use the mouth in conformity with the varieties of Glances such as, Sama and Sācī and the like mentioned by others.

eva nAmeti kAryaM ca kopavAkye vicakSaNaiH । samaM sAcyanuvRttAdi yacca dRSTivikalpitam ॥ 161॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतज्ज्ञैस्तेनानुसारेण कार्यं तदनुगं मुखम् । अथातो मुखरागस्तु चतुर्धा परिकीर्तितः ॥ १६२॥
The face should be made to follow that, by those who know that.The colour of the face according to the circumstances (lit. meaning) is of four kinds:

tajjJaistenAnusAreNa kAryaM tadanugaM mukham । athAto mukharAgastu caturdhA parikIrtitaH ॥ 162॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्वाभाविकः प्रसन्नश्च रक्तः श्यामोऽर्थसंश्रयः । स्वाभाविकस्तु कर्तव्यः स्वभावाभिनयाश्रयः ॥ १६३॥
natural (svābhāvika) bright (prasanna), reddened (rakta) and dark (śyāma). Natural face—in a natural and indifferent (mood).

svAbhAvikaH prasannazca raktaH zyAmo'rthasaMzrayaH । svAbhAvikastu kartavyaH svabhAvAbhinayAzrayaH ॥ 163॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमध्यस्थादिषु भावेषु मुखरागः प्रयोक्तृभिः । प्रसन्नस्त्वद्भुते कार्यो हास्यशृङ्गारयोस्तथा ॥ १६४॥
For neutral and similar states, the facial complexion should be natural. In the wondrous (adbhuta) sentiment, it should be bright, and in the comic (hāsya) and erotic (śṛṅgāra) sentiments, it should also be pleasant.

madhyasthAdiSu bhAveSu mukharAgaH prayoktRbhiH । prasannastvadbhute kAryo hAsyazaRGgArayostathA ॥ 164॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवीररौद्रमदाद्येषु रक्तः स्यात् करुणे तथा । भयानके सबीभत्से श्यामं सञ्जायते मुखम् ॥ १६५॥
Reddened face—in intoxication and in the Heroic, the Terrible and the Pathetic Sentiments. Dark face—in the Terrible and the Odious Sentiments.

vIraraudramadAdyeSu raktaH syAt karuNe tathA । bhayAnake sabIbhatse zyAmaM saJjAyate mukham ॥ 165॥
