बाष्पाम्बुप्लुतनेत्रत्वान्नेत्रसंमार्जनेन च । मुहुरश्रुकणापातैरस्रं त्वभिनयेद्बुधः ॥१०६॥

निश्चेष्टो निष्प्रकम्पत्वादव्यक्तश्वसितादपि । महीनिपतनाच्चापि प्रलयाभिनयो भवेत् ॥ १०७॥

The emotional states of doubt, illness, fatigue, anxiety, envy, fear, astonishment, deliberation, stupor, restlessness, horripilation, joy, sleep, madness, intoxication, perspiration, dissimulation, dissolution, trembling, dejection, exhaustion, indifference, pride, agitation, firmness, recollection, intellect, delusion, awakening, longing, absence of eagerness, anger, indignation, laughter, grief, epilepsy, misery, death, love, enthusiasm, terror, pallor, weeping, change of voice, calmness, paralysis, and dullness—these forty-six states, excluding indolence, cruelty, and disgust, contribute to the Erotic Sentiment, each manifesting in alignment with its intrinsic characteristics.

As appropriate to the context, these emotional states—born of the durable, transitory, and Sāttvika (involuntary) types—enhance the Erotic Sentiment, ultimately culminating in its realization as a Rasa (Sentiment). Weakness, doubt, envy, fatigue, restlessness, sleep, slumber, and dissimulation are the emotional states traditionally associated with the Comic Sentiment.
