यश्चापि विधिमुत्सृज्य यथेष्टं सम्प्रयोजयेत् । प्राप्नोत्यपचयं घोरं तिर्यग्ग्योनिं च गच्छति ॥ १७१॥

And he who, abandoning the prescribed method, applies it as he pleases, will attain a terrible decline and will go to the animal realm.

न तथाऽग्निः प्रदहति प्रभञ्जनसमीरतः । यथा ह्यप्रयोगस्तु प्रयुक्तो दहति क्षणात् ॥ १७२॥

Fire does not burn so much by the wind of the fan, as when it is used it burns in a moment.

इत्येवावन्तिपाञ्चालदाक्षिणात्यौढ्रमागधैः । कर्तव्य पूर्वरङ्गस्तु द्विप्रमाणविनिर्मितः ॥ १७३॥

Thus, the preliminary act should be performed by the inhabitants of Avantī, Pāñchāla, Dakṣiṇātya, and Māgadha, constructed with the measure of two parts.

O Brāhmaṇas, this procedure of the preliminary act has been described to you. Now, please tell again the correct procedure related to the science of drama.
