यश्चापि विधिमुत्सृज्य यथेष्टं सम्प्रयोजयेत् । प्राप्नोत्यपचयं घोरं तिर्यग्ग्योनिं च गच्छति ॥ १७१॥

And he who, abandoning the prescribed method, applies it as he pleases, will attain a terrible decline and will go to the animal realm.
