यश्चापि विधिमुत्सृज्य यथेष्टं सम्प्रयोजयेत् । प्राप्नोत्यपचयं घोरं तिर्यग्ग्योनिं च गच्छति ॥ १७१॥
And he who, abandoning the prescribed method, applies it as he pleases, will attain a terrible decline and will go to the animal realm.

yazcApi vidhimutsRjya yatheSTaM samprayojayet । prApnotyapacayaM ghoraM tiryaggyoniM ca gacchati ॥ 171॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन तथाऽग्निः प्रदहति प्रभञ्जनसमीरतः । यथा ह्यप्रयोगस्तु प्रयुक्तो दहति क्षणात् ॥ १७२॥
Fire does not burn so much by the wind of the fan, as when it is used it burns in a moment.

na tathA'gniH pradahati prabhaJjanasamIrataH । yathA hyaprayogastu prayukto dahati kSaNAt ॥ 172॥

Thus, the preliminary act should be performed by the inhabitants of Avantī, Pāñchāla, Dakṣiṇātya, and Māgadha, constructed with the measure of two parts.
