सखीप्रवृत्ते संलापे तथाऽसन्निहिते प्रिये । न हि नृत्तं प्रयोक्तव्यं यस्या न प्रोषितः प्रियः ॥ ३०९॥
When there is a conversation with a female friend or when the beloved is not near, dance should not be performed. In such cases, the dance should not be applied.
english translation
sakhIpravRtte saMlApe tathA'sannihite priye । na hi nRttaM prayoktavyaM yasyA na proSitaH priyaH ॥ 309॥
