The dance technique created for the purpose of obtaining the desired results is remembered as Tāṇḍava. The sages said: "When the purpose of obtaining results is fulfilled, that is when the expression of performance is created by the knowledgeable ones."
कस्मान्नृत्तं कृतं ह्येतद्गीतेष्वासारितेषु च । भरतः - अत्रोच्यते न खल्वर्थं कञ्चिन्नृत्तमपेक्षते ॥ २६३॥
Bharata says: Here it is stated that dance does not necessarily depend on any specific meaning; it does not require to be linked with the content of the songs.
मङ्गलमिति कृत्वा च नृत्तमेतत्प्रकीर्तितम् । विवाहप्रसवावाहप्रमोदाभ्युअदयादिषु ॥ २६५॥
This dance is called auspicious, and it is praised for occasions like marriage, childbirth, the reception of a son-in-law, festivities, and the attainment of prosperity.
