एभिर्विमिश्रितश्चायं चित्रो नाम भविष्यति । श्रुत्वा महेश्वरवचः प्रत्युक्तस्तु स्वयंभुवा ॥ १६॥
"This will be a colorful (diverse) creation, which will be called 'Chitra' (meaning a painting or a mixed form). Upon hearing the words of Maheshwara, the self-born (Brahma) will respond."
english translation
ebhirvimizritazcAyaM citro nAma bhaviSyati । zrutvA mahezvaravacaH pratyuktastu svayaMbhuvA ॥ 16॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रयोगमङ्गहाराणामाचक्ष्व सुरसत्तम । ततस्तण्डुं समाहूय प्रोक्तवान् भुवनेश्वरः ॥ १७॥
"O best of the gods, please describe the application of the ornaments. Then, calling upon Tandu, the Lord of the Universe spoke."

prayogamaGgahArANAmAcakSva surasattama । tatastaNDuM samAhUya proktavAn bhuvanezvaraH ॥ 17॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रयोगमङ्गहाराणामाचक्ष्व भरताय वै । ततो ये तण्डुना प्रोक्तास्त्वङ्गहारा महात्मना॥ १८॥
"Please describe the application of the ornaments to Bharata. Then, those ornaments, spoken of by the great sage Tandu, were used."

prayogamaGgahArANAmAcakSva bharatAya vai । tato ye taNDunA proktAstvaGgahArA mahAtmanA॥ 18॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतान्वः करणसंयुक्तान्व्याख्यास्यामि सरेचकान् । स्थिरहस्तोऽङ्गहारस्तु तथा पर्यस्तकः स्मृतः ॥ १९॥
"I will explain those ornaments, which are associated with various actions, including the stable-handed ornaments and the ones worn on the shoulder, as mentioned."

tAnvaH karaNasaMyuktAnvyAkhyAsyAmi sarecakAn । sthirahasto'GgahArastu tathA paryastakaH smRtaH ॥ 19॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसूचिविद्धस्तथा चैव ह्यपविद्धस्तथैव च । आक्षिप्तकोऽथ विज्ञेयस्तथा चोद्धट्टितः स्मृतः ॥ २०॥
"Similarly, the ornament pierced with a needle, the one slightly dislodged, and the one thrown or lifted are all to be understood as such."

sUcividdhastathA caiva hyapaviddhastathaiva ca । AkSiptako'tha vijJeyastathA coddhaTTitaH smRtaH ॥ 20॥
