उपस्थितस्मृतिश्चैव गात्रं सर्वं विधाय च । अचञ्चलमनाश्चैव यथावल्लिङ्गमाश्रितः ॥ ८१॥

Having kept the entire body steady and firm, with immobile limbs, and maintaining the prescribed posture firmly as required.

english translation

विनीतवेषश्च भवेत् कषायवसनस्तथा । प्रथमं समपादेन स्थित्वा स्थानेन वै बुधः ॥ ८२॥

He should wear modest attire, such as saffron-colored garments, and standing first with feet together, the wise person assumes the proper stance.

english translation

हस्तं च चतुरं कृत्वा तथा चैकं प्रसारयेत् । प्रसन्नं वदनं कृत्वा प्रयोगस्य वशानुगः ॥ ८३॥

He should make the hands skillful, stretch one hand forward, and with a serene face, follow the requirements of the performance.

english translation

अनिषण्णेन गात्रेण गतिं गच्छेद् व्यतिक्रमात् । उत्तमानां भवेदेषा लिङ्गिनां ये महाव्रताः ॥ ८४॥

With feet not firmly placed on the ground, he should walk with a stepping gait. This is suitable for the exalted ones, the marked (distinguished) great vow holders.

एभिरेव विपर्यस्तैर्गुणैरन्येषु योजयेत् । तथा व्रतानुगावस्था ह्यन्येषां लिङ्गिनां गतिः ॥ ८५॥

With qualities opposite to these, other types [of ascetics] are to be assigned different gaits accordingly. Thus, according to their vows and stages, the gait of other marked ones is to be adapted.
