‘Meanwhile, Duryodhana selected for himself the entire host of the Narayanas. O descendant of Bharata, though he knew that Krishna was not on his side, having obtained those vast troops numbering thousands upon thousands, he was filled with great delight.’ ।। 5-7-21 ।।
‘And he explained to him (Balarama) in detail the entire purpose of his coming. Then the mighty Shouri (Krishna) addressed these words to the son of Dhritarashtra (Duryodhana).’ ।। 5-7-22 ।।
निगृह्यॊक्तॊ हृषीकेशस तवदर्थं कुरुनन्दन मया संबन्धकं तुल्यम इति राजन पुनः पुनः ।। ५-७-२४ ।।
‘O delight of the Kuru race, it was for thy sake that I then opposed Krishna and spoke contrary to his views. Again and again did I emphasize the equality of my ties with both parties.’ ।। 5-7-24 ।।
न च तद वाक्यम उक्तं वै केशवः परत्यपद्यत न चाहम उत्सहे कृष्णं विना सथातुम अपि कषणम ।। ५-७-२५ ।।
‘Again and again did I emphasize the equality of my ties with both parties. Yet Krishna did not accept the opinion I expressed then — and I, for my part, cannot part from him even for a single moment.’ ।। 5-7-25 ।।
