नाहं सहायः पार्थानां नापि दुर्यॊधनस्य वै इति मे निश्चिता बुद्दिर वासुदेवम अवेक्ष्य ह ॥ ५-७-२६ ॥
‘Knowing that I cannot act against Krishna, I have resolved thus: I shall fight neither for the sons of Kunti nor for thee.’ ॥ 5-7-26 ॥
english translation
जातॊ ऽसि भारते वंशे सर्वपार्थिवपूजिते गच्छ युध्यस्व धर्मेण कषात्रेण भरतर्षभ ॥ ५-७-२७ ॥
‘And so, O bull among the Bharatas, sprung from a lineage revered by all kings, go forth and wage thy battle in accordance with the rules of righteousness.’ ॥ 5-7-27 ॥

इत्य एवम उक्तः स तदा परिष्वज्य हलायुधम कृष्णं चापहृतं जञात्वा युद्धान मेने जितं जयम ॥ ५-७-२८ ॥
‘Vaisampayana continued: "Thus addressed, Duryodhana embraced that mighty hero, Halayudha, wielder of the plough as his weapon in battle. And though he knew that Krishna had chosen to stand apart from his cause, he still held Arjuna as already vanquished in his heart."’ ॥ 5-7-28 ॥

सॊ ऽभययात कृतवर्माणं धृतराष्ट्र सुतॊ नृपः कृतवर्मा ददौ तस्य सेनाम अक्षौहिणीं तदा ॥ ५-७-२९ ॥
‘Thereafter, the royal son of Dhritarashtra went to Kritavarman, who bestowed upon him a vast force numbering an Akshauhini.’ ॥ 5-7-29 ॥

स तेन सर्वसैन्येन भीमेन कुरुनन्दनः वृतः परतिययौ हृष्टः सुहृदः संप्रहर्षयन ॥ ५-७-३० ॥
‘Surrounded by that formidable host, awe-inspiring and terrible to behold, the Kaurava prince set forth, his heart elated, bringing joy to his allies.’ ॥ 5-7-30 ॥
