[वासु] उपपन्नम इदं वाक्यं सॊमकानां धुरं धुरे अर्थसिद्धि करं राज्ञः पाण्डवस्य महौजसः ॥ ५-५-१ ॥
‘Krishna said: "These measures are well-suited to the chief of the Somakas and are certain to advance the cause of Pandu’s son, whose strength knows no bounds."’ ॥ 5-5-1 ॥
english translation
[vAsu] upapannama idaM vAkyaM sòmakAnAM dhuraM dhure arthasiddhi karaM rAjJaH pANDavasya mahaujasaH ॥ 5-5-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतच च पूर्वकार्यं नः सुनीतम अभिकाङ्क्षताम अन्यथा हय आचरन कर्म पुरुषः सयात सुबालिशः ॥ ५-५-२ ॥
‘Since we seek to act with wisdom and foresight, this indeed should be regarded as our foremost duty; to act otherwise would be sheer folly.’ ॥ 5-5-2 ॥

etaca ca pUrvakAryaM naH sunItama abhikAGkSatAma anyathA haya Acarana karma puruSaH sayAta subAlizaH ॥ 5-5-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकिं तु संबन्धकं तुल्यम अस्माकं कुरु पाण्डुषु यथेष्टं वर्तमानेषु पाण्डवेषु च तेषु च ॥ ५-५-३ ॥
‘Yet, let it not be forgotten that our bond with both the Kurus and the Pandavas stands equal, regardless of how these two sides may conduct themselves towards one another’ ॥ 5-5-3 ॥

kiM tu saMbandhakaM tulyama asmAkaM kuru pANDuSu yatheSTaM vartamAneSu pANDaveSu ca teSu ca ॥ 5-5-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptते विवाहार्थम आनीता वयं सर्वे यथा भवान कृते विवाहे मुदिता गमिष्यामॊ गृहान परति ॥ ५-५-४ ॥
‘Both you and we have been invited here for the celebration of a marriage. Now that the ceremony is complete, let us return home in joy and contentment.’ ॥ 5-5-4 ॥

te vivAhArthama AnItA vayaM sarve yathA bhavAna kRte vivAhe muditA gamiSyAmò gRhAna parati ॥ 5-5-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभवान वृद्धतमॊ राज्ञां वयसा च शरुतेन च शिष्यवत ते वयं सर्वे भवामेह न संशयः ॥ ५-५-५ ॥
‘You are the foremost among kings, both in wisdom and in experience, and we all, undoubtedly, are as your pupils in learning.’ ॥ 5-5-5 ॥
