भवन्तं धृतराष्ट्रश च सततं बहु मन्यते आचार्ययॊः सखा चासि दरॊणस्य च कृपस्य च ।। ५-५-६ ।।

‘Dhritarashtra has ever held you in the highest regard, and you are also a friend of the venerable preceptors, Drona and Kripa.’ ।। 5-5-6 ।।

english translation

bhavantaM dhRtarASTraza ca satataM bahu manyate AcAryayòH sakhA cAsi daròNasya ca kRpasya ca || 5-5-6 ||

स भवान परेषयत्व अद्य पाण्डवार्थ करं वचः सर्वेषां निश्चितं तन नः परेषयिष्यति यद भवान ।। ५-५-७ ।।

‘I therefore entreat you to send a message to the Kurus, in the interest of the Pandavas. Surely, you will deliver to all that which is entrusted to you.’ ।। 5-5-7 ।।

english translation

sa bhavAna pareSayatva adya pANDavArtha karaM vacaH sarveSAM nizcitaM tana naH pareSayiSyati yada bhavAna || 5-5-7 ||

यदि तावच छमं कुर्यान नयायेन कुरुपुंगवः न भवेत कुरु पाण्डूनां सौभ्रात्रेण महान कषयः ।। ५-५-८ ।।

‘If the chief of the Kuru race consents to peace on equitable terms, then the bonds of brotherhood between the Kurus and the Pandavas will suffer no harm.’ ।। 5-5-8 ।।

yadi tAvaca chamaM kuryAna nayAyena kurupuMgavaH na bhaveta kuru pANDUnAM saubhrAtreNa mahAna kaSayaH || 5-5-8 ||

अथ दर्पान्वितॊ मॊहान न कुर्याद धृतराष्ट्रजः अन्येषां परेषयित्वाच च पश्चाद अस्मान समाह्वयेः ।। ५-५-९ ।।

‘But if, on the other hand, Dhritarashtra’s son, in arrogance and folly, refuses reconciliation, then summon us along with the others.’ ।। 5-5-9 ।।

atha darpAnvitò mòhAna na kuryAda dhRtarASTrajaH anyeSAM pareSayitvAca ca pazcAda asmAna samAhvayeH || 5-5-9 ||

ततॊ दुर्यॊधनॊ मन्दः सहामात्यः स बान्धवः निष्टाम आपत्स्यते मूढः करुद्धे गाण्डीवधन्वनि ।। ५-५-१० ।।

‘The wielder of Gadiva will then be inflamed with wrath, and the dull-witted and wicked Duryodhana, together with his partisans and allies, shall meet his just fate.’ ।। 5-5-10 ।।

tatò duryòdhanò mandaH sahAmAtyaH sa bAndhavaH niSTAma Apatsyate mUDhaH karuddhe gANDIvadhanvani || 5-5-10 ||
