[व] ततः सत्कृत्य वार्ष्णेयं विराटः पृथिवीपतिः गृहान परस्थापयाम आस सगणं सह बान्धवम ॥ ५-५-११ ॥
‘Vaisampayana said: Then King Virata, having respectfully honoured Krishna, sent him on his way along with his followers and kinsmen.’ ॥ 5-5-11 ॥

‘After Krishna departed for Dvārakā, Yudhishthira and his companions, together with King Virata, began preparations for war.’ ॥ 5-5-12 ॥

‘Virata and his relatives dispatched messengers to all the monarchs, and King Drupada did the same.’ ॥ 5-5-13 ॥

‘Responding to the summons of these lions of the Kuru race, as well as the two kings of the Matsyas and the Panchalas, many mighty lords of the earth, endowed with great strength, arrived at the place with cheerful hearts.’ ॥ 5-5-14 ॥

‘And when the sons of Dhritarashtra learned that the Pandavas had assembled a mighty army, they too gathered together numerous rulers of the earth.’ ॥ 5-5-15 ॥
