रुरुचर्मावृत तनून हरिया किं चिद अवाङ्मुखान परैः परीतान संहृष्टैः सुहृद्भिश चानुशॊचितान ॥ २-७०-११ ॥

'The bodies, covered in deer skins and somewhat turned away, were being honored by others, who were joyful and sympathetic friends, and were being mourned appropriately.' ॥ 2-70-11 ॥

तदवस्थान सुतान सर्वान उपसृत्यातिवत्सला सस्वजानावदच छॊकात तत तद विलपती बहु ॥ २-७०-१२ ॥

'In that state, overwhelmed by maternal affection, she mourned deeply, lamenting each of her sons in turn, expressing her sorrow with many cries.' ॥ 2-70-12 ॥

tadavasthAna sutAna sarvAna upasRtyAtivatsalA sasvajAnAvadaca chòkAta tata tada vilapatI bahu ॥ 2-70-12 ॥

कथं सद धर्मचारित्रवृत्तस्थिति विभूषितान अक्षुद्रान दृढभक्तांश च दैवतेज्या परान सदा ॥ २-७०-१३ ॥

'You are virtuous and well-mannered, adorned with all noble qualities and respectful behavior. You are high-minded, devoted to the service of your superiors, and dedicated to the gods and the performance of sacrifices. Why, then, has this calamity befallen you? How has such a reversal of fortune come about?' ॥ 2-70-13 ॥

'Misfortune has befallen you; what reversal of fate is this? Whose ill will has caused this calamity? I perceive this with my mind.' ॥ 2-70-14 ॥

vayasanaM vaH samabhyAgAta kò 'yaM vidhiviparyayaH kasyApadhyAnajaM cedama Agò pazyAmi vò dhiyA ॥ 2-70-14 ॥

सयात तु मद्भाग्यदॊषॊ ऽयं याहं युष्मान अजीजनम दुःखायास भुजॊ ऽतयर्थं युक्तान अप्य उत्तमैर गुणैः ॥ २-७०-१५ ॥

'Despite your excellent virtues, you have been struck by this calamity. You possess boundless energy, prowess, strength, firmness, and might, yet you have been afflicted by misfortune.' ॥ 2-70-15 ॥

sayAta tu madbhAgyadòSò 'yaM yAhaM yuSmAna ajIjanama duHkhAyAsa bhujò 'tayarthaM yuktAna apya uttamaira guNaiH ॥ 2-70-15 ॥
