परेक्षापूर्वं मया दयूतम इदम आसीद उपेक्षितम मित्राणि दरष्टुकामेन पुत्राणां च बलाबलम ॥ २-६५-१२ ॥
'It was for the purpose of observing our friends and assessing the strength and weaknesses of my children that I, for reasons of strategy, allowed this game of dice to proceed.' ॥ 2-65-12 ॥
