[भीस्म] न धर्मसौक्ष्म्यात सुभगे विवक्तुं; शक्नॊमि ते परश्नम इमं यथावत अस्वॊ हय अशक्तः पणितुं परस्वं; सत्रियश च भर्तुर वशतां समीक्ष्य ॥ २-६०-४० ॥
'Observing everything, Bhishma said, 'O blessed one, righteousness is indeed subtle. I find myself unable to fully resolve the issue you’ve raised. On one hand, a person without wealth cannot stake what belongs to others; on the other hand, wives are always subject to the commands and control of their husbands.'' ॥ 2-60-40 ॥

[bhIsma] na dharmasaukSmyAta subhage vivaktuM; zaknòmi te paraznama imaM yathAvata asvò haya azaktaH paNituM parasvaM; satriyaza ca bhartura vazatAM samIkSya ॥ 2-60-40 ॥
