'Here are eight steeds, each as swift as the shadow of a falcon, well-regarded throughout the realm. They carry this chariot, which touches the earth with its wheels. O King, this is the wealth I stake against you!' ।। 2-54-6 ।।
'Vaiśampāyana continued, "Upon hearing these words, Shakuni, prepared with the dice and using unfair methods, said to Yudhishthira, 'Behold, I have won!'"' ।। 2-54-7 ।।
'Yudhishthira said, "I have a hundred thousand serving-girls, all youthful and adorned with golden bracelets on their wrists and upper arms, with Nishkas around their necks and other fine ornaments."' ।। 2-54-8 ।।
'Yudhishthira said, "O son of Suvala, I have a thousand majestic elephants, adorned with golden girdles and ornaments, marked with lotus symbols, and draped in golden garlands. They have thick, white tusks as long as plough-shafts, capable of withstanding the noise of battle."' ।। 2-54-9 ।।
