[य] एतावन्त्य एव दासानां सहस्राण्य उत सन्ति मे परदक्षिणानुलॊमाश च परावार वसनाः सदा ।। २-५४-१६ ।।

sanskrit

'Yudhishthira said, "I possess countless thousands of servants who are always obedient, following my every command, and perpetually adorned in fine garments."' ।। 2-54-16 ।।

english translation

[ya] etAvantya eva dAsAnAM sahasrANya uta santi me paradakSiNAnulòmAza ca parAvAra vasanAH sadA || 2-54-16 ||

Endowed with wisdom and intelligence, though young and self-controlled, they are adorned with earrings and serve guests day and night with plates and dishes in hand. This, O King, is the wealth I stake against you!

'Vaiśampāyana continued, "Upon hearing this, Shakuni, having made his decision and relying on deceitful means, said to Yudhishthira, 'Indeed, it is won!'"' ।। 2-54-18 ।।

[va] etaca charutvA vayavasitò nikRtiM samupAzritaH jitama itya eva zakunira yudhiSThirama abhASata || 2-54-18 ||

[य] रथास तावन्त एवेमे हेमभाण्डाः पताकिनः हयैर विनीतैः संपन्ना रथिभिश चित्रयॊधिभिः ।। २-५४-१९ ।।

'Yudhishthira said, "I have as many chariots as elephants, each adorned with golden poles and flag-staffs, and equipped with well-trained horses and skilled warriors who fight remarkably well."' ।। 2-54-19 ।।

[ya] rathAsa tAvanta eveme hemabhANDAH patAkinaH hayaira vinItaiH saMpannA rathibhiza citrayòdhibhiH || 2-54-19 ||

एकैकॊ यत्र लभते सहस्रपरमां भृतिम युध्यतॊ ऽयुध्यतॊ वापि वेतनं मासकालिकम एतद राजन धनं मह्यं तेन दीव्याम्य अहं तवया ।। २-५४-२० ।।

'Each of whom receives a thousand coins as monthly pay, whether they fight or not. This is the wealth I stake against you, O King!' ।। 2-54-20 ।।

ekaikò yatra labhate sahasraparamAM bhRtima yudhyatò 'yudhyatò vApi vetanaM mAsakAlikama etada rAjana dhanaM mahyaM tena dIvyAmya ahaM tavayA || 2-54-20 ||
