कच चित ते यास्यतः शत्रून पूर्वं यान्ति सवनुष्ठिताः सामं दानं च भेदश च दण्डश च विधिवद गुणाः ।। २-५-५१ ।।
'Before you march out against your foes, do you effectively utilize the four strategies of reconciliation, inducing dissension through gifts, and the application of force?' ।। 2-5-51 ।।
कच चिन मूलं दृढं कृत्वा यात्रां यासि विशां पते तांश च विक्रमसे जेतुं जित्वा च परिरक्षसि ।। २-५-५२ ।।
'O monarch, do you set out against your enemies only after fortifying your own kingdom? And once you engage them, do you exert your utmost effort to secure victory?' ।। 2-5-52 ।।
'After conquering them, do you strive to protect them diligently? Is your army comprised of four types of forces — regular troops, allies, mercenaries, and irregulars — each equipped with the eight components: chariots, elephants, horses, officers, infantry, camp followers, knowledgeable spies, and banners? Are they led into battle against your enemies after thorough training by experienced officers?' ।। 2-5-53 ।।
'O king, I trust that your servants and agents, both within your kingdom and in the territories of your adversaries, continue to fulfill their duties and support one another in protection.' ।। 2-5-55 ।।
