कच चिद भयाद उपनतं कलीबं वा रिपुम आगतम युद्धे वा विजितं पार्थ पुत्रवत परिरक्षसि ॥ २-५-४५ ॥
'Do you, O son of Pritha, protect the one who has come to you out of fear, like a child, or the enemy who has been defeated in battle?' ॥ 2-5-45 ॥
