sanskrit

'I also saw countless chiefs of the Kiratas, armed with fierce weapons and always engaged in harsh deeds. They lived on the northern slopes of the Himavat, on the mountains from which the sun rises, in the Karusha region along the sea-coast, and on both sides of the Lohitya mountains. These Kiratas brought with them as tribute enormous quantities of sandalwood, aloe, and black aloe; heaps of valuable skins and gold; exquisite perfumes; ten thousand serving girls of their race; many beautiful animals and birds from distant lands; and splendid gold from the mountains. Despite their substantial offerings, they waited at the gate, unable to gain entry.' ।। 2-48-8 ।।
