ययॊर अन्यतरॊ भीष्म संक्रुद्धः स चराचराम इमां वसुमतीं कुर्याद अशेषाम इति मे मतिः ।। २-४१-११ ।।
'O Bhishma, praise Drona and Aswatthaman, the mighty father and son, who are both esteemed warriors and the finest of Brahmanas. I believe that if either of them were enraged, they could annihilate this entire earth, with all its mobile and immobile creatures.' ।। 2-41-11 ।।
शल्यादीन अपि कस्मात तवं न सतौषि वसुधाधिपान सतवाय यदि ते बुद्धिर वर्तते भीष्म सर्वदा ।। २-४१-१३ ।।
'O Bhishma, why do you not extend your praise to Shalya and the other kings who rule the earth? If your mind is indeed always disposed towards offering praise.' ।। 2-41-13 ।।
'There are four types of conduct that are not practiced by the noble: self-deprecation, self-aggrandizement, disparagement of others, and excessive praise of others.' ।। 2-41-15 ।।
