यद्य अयं जगतः कर्ता यथैनं मूर्ख मन्यसे कस्मान न बराह्मणं सम्यग आत्मानम अवगच्छति ॥ २-३९-६ ॥
'If Krishna is indeed the lord of the universe as this fool claims, why does he not consider himself a Brahmana?' ॥ 2-39-6 ॥
english translation
इदं तव आश्चर्यभूतं मे यद इमे पाण्डवास तवया अपकृष्टाः सतां मार्गान मन्यन्ते तच च साध्व इति ॥ २-३९-७ ॥
'What surprises me greatly is that, despite leading the Pandavas away from the path of righteousness, they still regard you as virtuous.' ॥ 2-39-7 ॥
english translation
अथ वा नैतद आश्चर्यं येषां तवम असि भारत सत्री सधर्मा च वृद्धश च सर्वार्थानां परदर्शकः ॥ २-३९-८ ॥
'Or perhaps it is hardly surprising that those who have you, O Bharata—being of a weak and elderly disposition—as their advisor in all matters, would hold such views.' ॥ 2-39-8 ॥

[व] तस्य तद वचनं शरुत्वा रूक्षं रूक्षाक्षरं बहु चुकॊप बलिनां शरेष्ठॊ भीमसेनः परतापवान ॥ २-३९-९ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, Having heard those harsh words, full of harsh syllables, the mightiest among the strong, the illustrious Bhimasena, became enraged.' ॥ 2-39-9 ॥

तस्य पद्मप्रतीकाशे सवभावायत विस्तृते भूयॊ करॊधाभिताम्रान्ते रक्ते नेत्रे बभूवतुः ॥ २-३९-१० ॥
'His eyes, naturally large and like lotus petals, expanded further and turned red as copper under the influence of his rage.' ॥ 2-39-10 ॥
