सा वै शतसहस्रस्य संमिता सर्वघातिनी अनुरूपा च भीमस्य गाण्डीवं भवतॊ यथा ।। २-३-६ ।।

sanskrit

'It is capable of striking down all adversaries, just as the Gandiva is suited to you, Bhima. Indeed, it is commensurate with the strength of a hundred thousand clubs.' ।। 2-3-6 ।।

english translation

sA vai zatasahasrasya saMmitA sarvaghAtinI anurUpA ca bhImasya gANDIvaM bhavatò yathA || 2-3-6 ||

hk transliteration

वारुणश च महाशङ्खॊ देवदत्तः सुघॊषवान सर्वम एतत परदास्यामि भवते नात्र संशयः इत्य उक्त्वा सॊ ऽसुरः पार्थं पराग उदीचीम अगाद दिशम ।। २-३-७ ।।

sanskrit

'"It is as powerful as a hundred thousand clubs, making it a fitting weapon for Bhima, just as the Gandiva is for you. Additionally, in that lake lies a large conch shell named Devadatta, gifted by Varuna, resounding loudly. I will undoubtedly present all these to you." Having said this to Partha, the demon departed towards the northeast.' ।। 2-3-7 ।।

english translation

vAruNaza ca mahAzaGkhò devadattaH sughòSavAna sarvama etata paradAsyAmi bhavate nAtra saMzayaH itya uktvA sò 'suraH pArthaM parAga udIcIma agAda dizama || 2-3-7 ||

hk transliteration

उत्तरेण तु कैलासं मैनाकं पर्वतं परति हिरण्यशृङ्गॊ भगवान महामणिमयॊ गिरिः ।। २-३-८ ।।

sanskrit

'To the north of Mount Kailasa, amidst the Mainaka mountains, stands the majestic peak named Hiranya-sringa, adorned with an abundance of gems and jewels.' ।। 2-3-8।।

english translation

uttareNa tu kailAsaM mainAkaM parvataM parati hiraNyazRGgò bhagavAna mahAmaNimayò giriH || 2-3-8 ||

hk transliteration

रम्यं बिन्दुसरॊ नाम यत्र राजा भगीरथः दृष्ट्वा भागीरथीं गङ्गाम उवास बहुलाः समाः ।। २-३-९ ।।

sanskrit

'Near that peak lies a charming lake named Vindu. On its banks, King Bhagiratha dwelled for many years.' ।। 2-3-9 ।।

english translation

ramyaM bindusarò nAma yatra rAjA bhagIrathaH dRSTvA bhAgIrathIM gaGgAma uvAsa bahulAH samAH || 2-3-9 ||

hk transliteration

यत्रेष्ट्वा सर्वभूतानाम ईश्वरेण महात्मना आहृताः करतवॊ मुख्याः शतं भरतसत्तम ।। २-३-१० ।।

sanskrit

'In that sacred spot, guided by the noble soul who is the master of all beings, the illustrious Bhagiratha summoned a hundred chief rivers.' ।। 2-3-10 ।।

yatreSTvA sarvabhUtAnAma IzvareNa mahAtmanA AhRtAH karatavò mukhyAH zataM bharatasattama || 2-3-10 ||
