'Vaisampayana said: “Thus, Sahadeva, affectionately dismissed by the just King Yudhishthira, set out towards the southern direction with a grand army.”' ।। 2-28-1 ।।
स शूरसेनान कार्त्स्न्येन पूर्वम एवाजयत परभुः मत्स्यराजं च कौरव्यॊ वशे चक्रे बलाद बली ।। २-२८-२ ।।
'Strong and mighty, the prince of the Kuru race first completely subdued the Surasenas and then brought the king of Matsya under his control.' ।। 2-28-2 ।।
सुकुमारं वशे चक्रे सुमित्रं च नराधिपम तथैवापरमत्स्यांश च वयजयत स पटच चरान ।। २-२८-४ ।।
'The prince then brought Sukumara and King Sumitra under his sway, subsequently vanquished the other Matsyas, and also subdued the Patacharas.' ।। 2-28-4 ।।
निषादभूमिं गॊशृङ्गं पर्वत परवरं तथा तरसा वयजयद धीमाञ शरेणिमन्तं च पार्थिवम ।। २-२८-५ ।।
'Endued with great intelligence, the Kuru warrior swiftly conquered the Nishada territory, the lofty hill of Goṣṛṅga, and the lord of the land, King Śreṇimanta.' ।। 2-28-5 ।।
