[वासु] कुलकार्यं महाराज कश चिद एकः कुलॊद्वहः वहते तन्नियॊगाद वै वयम अभ्युत्थितास तरयः ॥ २-२०-६ ॥
'Maintaining steadfast adherence to the practices of my lineage, I never harm those under my command. Therefore, it seems you accuse me wrongly!' ॥ 2-20-6 ॥

[vAsu] kulakAryaM mahArAja kaza cida ekaH kulòdvahaH vahate tanniyògAda vai vayama abhyutthitAsa tarayaH ॥ 2-20-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतवया चॊपहृता राजन कषत्रिया लॊकवासिनः तद आगॊ करूरम उत्पाद्य मन्यसे किं तव अनागसम ॥ २-२०-७ ॥
'Krishna replied, "O mighty-armed one, there is a leader of a royal lineage who upholds the honor of his dynasty. It is at his order that we have come against you."' ॥ 2-20-7 ॥

tavayA còpahRtA rAjana kaSatriyA lòkavAsinaH tada Agò karUrama utpAdya manyase kiM tava anAgasama ॥ 2-20-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptराजा राज्ञः कथं साधून हिंस्यान नृपतिसत्तम तद राज्ञः संनिगृह्य तवं रुद्रायॊपजिहीर्षसि ॥ २-२०-७ ॥
'O king, you have brought many Kshatriyas from around the world as captives to your city. Having committed this heinous act, how can you still consider yourself innocent?' ॥ 2-20-8 ॥
english translation
rAjA rAjJaH kathaM sAdhUna hiMsyAna nRpatisattama tada rAjJaH saMnigRhya tavaM rudrAyòpajihIrSasi ॥ 2-20-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअस्मांस तद एनॊ गच्छेत तवया बार्हद्रथे कृतम वयं हि शक्ता धर्मस्य रक्षणे धर्मचारिणः ॥ २-२०-९ ॥
'O best of monarchs, how can a king act unjustly towards other virtuous kings? Yet, O king, by treating other kings cruelly, you intend to sacrifice them to the god Rudra! O son of Vrihadratha, this sin committed by you may affect us as well, for we uphold virtue in our actions and are capable of defending righteousness.' ॥ 2-20-9 ॥

asmAMsa tada enò gaccheta tavayA bArhadrathe kRtama vayaM hi zaktA dharmasya rakSaNe dharmacAriNaH ॥ 2-20-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमनुष्याणां समालम्भॊ न च दृष्टः कदा चन स कथं मानुषैर देवं यष्टुम इच्छसि शंकरम ॥ २-२०-१० ॥
'The slaughter of human beings as a sacrifice to the gods has never been witnessed. Why then do you seek to perform such a sacrifice to Lord Sankara by slaughtering humans?' ॥ 2-20-10 ॥

manuSyANAM samAlambhò na ca dRSTaH kadA cana sa kathaM mAnuSaira devaM yaSTuma icchasi zaMkarama ॥ 2-20-10 ॥
