[ज] न समरेयं कदा वैरं कृतं युष्माभिर इत्य उत चिन्तयंश च न पश्यामि भवतां परति वैकृतम ।। २-२०-१ ।।
'Jarasandha replied, saying, "I cannot recall ever acting harmfully towards you! Even upon careful reflection, I fail to perceive any injury I have caused you."' ।। 2-20-1 ।।
वैकृते चासति कथं मन्यध्वं माम अनागसम अरिं विब्रूत तद विप्राः सतां समय एष हि ।। २-२०-२ ।।
'In this unnatural situation, how do you consider me blameless? O Brahmins, speak of the enemy, for this is the convention of the righteous.' ।। 2-20-2 ।।
'Answer me truthfully, for this is the way of the righteous. The heart grieves at the thought of causing harm to another's happiness and integrity.' ।। 2-20-3 ।।
अतॊ ऽनयथाचरँल लॊके धर्मज्ञः सन महाव्रतः वृजिनां गतिम आप्नॊति शरेयसॊ ऽपय उपहन्ति च ।। २-२०-४ ।।
'A Kshatriya who harms the innocent, undermining their happiness and moral integrity, regardless of being a skilled warrior well-versed in all moral codes, undoubtedly meets the fate of sinners in the hereafter and falls from prosperity.' ।। 2-20-4 ।।
'The righteous practices of the Kshatriyas are indeed esteemed as the best across the three worlds. Those versed in morality commend the conduct of Kshatriyas.' ।। 2-20-5 ।।
