नात्मनात्मवतां मुख्य इयेष मधुसूदनः बरह्मण आज्ञां पुरस्कृत्य हन्तुं हलधरानुजः ॥ २-२०-३४ ॥

sanskrit

'Madhusudana, the younger brother of the plough-bearer (Balarama), Did not wish to kill him himself, O best of the self-controlled ones, Keeping in mind the command of Brahma.' ॥ 2-20-34 ॥

english translation

nAtmanAtmavatAM mukhya iyeSa madhusUdanaH barahmaNa AjJAM puraskRtya hantuM haladharAnujaH ॥ 2-20-34 ॥
