ययॊस ते नामनी लॊके हंसेति डिभकेति च पूर्वं संकथिते पुम्भिर नृलॊके लॊकसत्कृते ॥ २-२०-३१ ॥
'O king, these two were formerly known in the world of men by the revered names of Hansa and Dimvaka. ' ॥ 2-20-31 ॥

yayòsa te nAmanI lòke haMseti Dibhaketi ca pUrvaM saMkathite pumbhira nRlòke lòkasatkRte ॥ 2-20-31 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतं तु राजन विभुः शौरी राजानं बलिनां वरम समृत्वा पुरुषशार्दूल शार्दूलसमविक्रमम ॥ २-२०-३२ ॥
'But, O King, the mighty Shauri (Krishna) remembered that king, The best among the strong, O tiger among men, with the prowess of a tiger.' ॥ 2-20-32 ॥

taM tu rAjana vibhuH zaurI rAjAnaM balinAM varama samRtvA puruSazArdUla zArdUlasamavikramama ॥ 2-20-32 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसत्यसंधॊ जरासंधं भुवि भीमपराक्रमम भागम अन्यस्य निर्दिष्टं वध्यं भूमिभृद अच्युतः ॥ २-२०-३३ ॥
'The truthful Achyuta (Krishna) ॥ considered॥ Jarasandha, of terrible prowess on earth, As the destined portion of another, to be slain, O King.' ॥ 2-20-33 ॥

satyasaMdhò jarAsaMdhaM bhuvi bhImaparAkramama bhAgama anyasya nirdiSTaM vadhyaM bhUmibhRda acyutaH ॥ 2-20-33 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनात्मनात्मवतां मुख्य इयेष मधुसूदनः बरह्मण आज्ञां पुरस्कृत्य हन्तुं हलधरानुजः ॥ २-२०-३४ ॥
'Madhusudana, the younger brother of the plough-bearer (Balarama), Did not wish to kill him himself, O best of the self-controlled ones, Keeping in mind the command of Brahma.' ॥ 2-20-34 ॥
