शैलस्तम्भनिभास तेषां चन्दनागुरुभूषिताः अशॊभन्त महाराज बाहवॊ बाहुशालिनाम ॥ २-१९-२६ ॥
'And the arms of those warriors, O king, smeared with sandal paste, resembled the trunks of sala trees.' ॥ 2-19-26 ॥

तान दृष्ट्वा दविरदप्रख्याञ शालस्कन्धान इवॊद्गतान वयूढॊरस्कान मागधानां विस्मयः समजायत ॥ २-१९-२७ ॥
'The people of Magadha, beholding those heroes, who looked like elephants with broad necks and wide chests, were filled with wonder.' ॥ 2-19-27 ॥
english translation
ते तव अतीत्य जनाकीर्णास तिस्रः कक्ष्या नरर्षभाः अहं कारेण राजानम उपतस्थुर महाबलाः ॥ २-१९-२८ ॥
'Those bull among men, passing through three gates that were crowded with men, proudly and cheerfully approached the king.' ॥ 2-19-28 ॥

तान पाद्य मधुपर्कार्हान मानार्हान सत्कृतिं गतान परत्युत्थाय जरासंध उपतस्थे यथाविधि ॥ २-१९-२९ ॥
'Jarasandha, rising hastily, welcomed them with water to wash their feet, honey, and other offerings of Arghya, along with gifts of cattle and various forms of respect.' ॥ 2-19-29 ॥

उवाच चैतान राजासौ सवागतं वॊ ऽसत्व इति परभुः तस्य हय एतद वरतं राजन बभूव भुवि विश्रुतम ॥ २-१९-३० ॥
'The great king welcomed them, saying, "You are welcome!" O Janamejaya, both Partha and Bhima remained silent. Addressing the monarch, Krishna said, "O king of kings, these two are currently observing a vow and will remain silent until midnight. After that hour, they will speak with you." For this vow of his, O king, became famous on earth.' ॥ 2-19-30 ॥
