मातुलॊ भवतः शूरः पुरुजित कुन्तिवर्धनः स ते संनतिमान एकः सनेहतः शत्रुतापनः ॥ २-१३-१६ ॥
'O king, your maternal uncle Purujit, the brave scion of the Kunti lineage, who rules over the western and southern domains, and who is renowned as the conqueror of all enemies, is the sole king who holds you dear out of affection.' ॥ 2-13-16 ॥
english translation
जरासंधं गतस तव एवं पुरा यॊ न मया हतः पुरुषॊत्तम विज्ञातॊ यॊ ऽसौ चेदिषु दुर्मतिः ॥ २-१३-१७ ॥
'The wicked ruler among the Chedis, whom I did not slay in the past, falsely represented himself in this world as a divine figure, known as Paundraka Vasudeva.' ॥ 2-13-17 ॥
english translation
आत्मानं परतिजानाति लॊके ऽसमिन पुरुषॊत्तमम आदत्ते सततं मॊहाद यः स चिह्नं च मामकम ॥ २-१३-१८ ॥
'He has aligned himself with Jarasandha and bears the insignia similar to mine, foolishly claiming identity with me.' ॥ 2-13-18 ॥

वङ्ग पुण्ड्र किरातेषु राजा बलसमन्वितः पौण्ड्रकॊ वासुदेवेति यॊ ऽसौ लॊकेषु विश्रुतः ॥ २-१३-१९ ॥
'The king endowed with strength among the Vangas, Pundras, and Kiratas, Who is known in the world as Paundraka Vasudeva.' ॥ 2-13-19 ॥

चतुर्युः स महाराज भॊज इन्द्र सखॊ बली विद्या बलाद यॊ वयजयत पाण्ड्य करथक कैशिकान ॥ २-१३-२० ॥
'O king of kings, Bhishmaka, the mighty ruler of the Bhojas and friend of Indra, vanquisher of enemies, who governed a quarter of the world and conquered the Pandyas and the Kratha-Kausikas through his wisdom, has now become a vassal to the king of Magadha.' ॥ 2-13-20 ॥
