भराता यस्याहृतिः शूरॊ जामदग्न्य समॊ युधि स भक्तॊ मागधं राजा भीष्मकः परवीरहा ॥ २-१३-२१ ॥
'The brother of whom is Ahrti, valiant and equal to Jamadagnya in battle, That king Bhishmaka, slayer of enemy heroes, is devoted to the king of Magadha.' ॥ 2-13-21 ॥
english translation
परियाण्य आचरतः परह्वान सदा संबन्धिनः सतः भजतॊ न भजत्य अस्मान अप्रियेषु वयवस्थितः ॥ २-१३-२२ ॥
'Though we always act kindly towards him and maintain a familial relationship, He does not reciprocate our affection, remaining fixed in his dislike for us.' ॥ 2-13-22 ॥
english translation
न कुलं न बलं राजन्न अभिजानंस तथात्मनः पश्यमानॊ यशॊ दीप्तं जरासंधम उपाश्रितः ॥ २-१३-२३ ॥
'O King, unaware of his strength and the honor of his lineage, has sought refuge under Jarasandha merely because of the latter's formidable reputation.' ॥ 2-13-23 ॥
english translation
उदीच्यभॊजाश च तथा कुलान्य अष्टा दशाभिभॊ जरासंध भयाद एव परतीचीं दिशम आश्रिताः ॥ २-१३-२४ ॥
'And, O exalted one, the eighteen tribes of the Bhojas, from fear of Jarasandha, have all fled towards the west.' ॥ 2-13-24 ॥

शूरसेना भद्र कारा बॊधाः शाल्वाः पतच चराः सुस्थराश च सुकुट्टाश च कुणिन्दाः कुन्तिभिः सह ॥ २-१३-२५ ॥
'Similarly, the Surasenas, Bhadrakas, Vodhas, Salwas, Patachchavas, Susthalas, Mukuttas, Kulindas, and the Kuntis have also done so.' ॥ 2-13-25 ॥
