अथैवम उक्ते नृपताव ऋत्विग्भिर ऋषिभिस तथा मन्त्रिणॊ भरातरश चास्य तद वचॊ परत्यपूजयन ॥ २-१२-२१ ॥
'After the Ritwijas and the Rishis had told these words unto the king, his ministers and brothers highly approved of the speech.' ॥ 2-12-21 ॥
english translation
athaivama ukte nRpatAva Rtvigbhira RSibhisa tathA mantriNò bharAtaraza cAsya tada vacò paratyapUjayana ॥ 2-12-21 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस तु राजा महाप्राज्ञः पुनर एवात्मनात्मवान भूयॊ विममृशे पार्थॊ लॊकानां हितकाम्यया ॥ २-१२-२२ ॥
'But that king of great wisdom, self-controlled, son of Pritha (Partha), Pondered again by himself, desiring the welfare of the people.' ॥ 2-12-22 ॥
english translation
sa tu rAjA mahAprAjJaH punara evAtmanAtmavAna bhUyò vimamRze pArthò lòkAnAM hitakAmyayA ॥ 2-12-22 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसामर्थ्य यॊगं संप्रेक्ष्य देशकालौ वययागमौ विमृश्य सम्यक च धिया कुर्वन पराज्ञॊ न सीदति ॥ २-१२-२३ ॥
'The king, possessing great wisdom and a disciplined mind, driven by the desire to benefit the world, reconsidered the issue, contemplating his own capabilities, resources, the current circumstances, and his financial situation.' ॥ 2-12-23 ॥

sAmarthya yògaM saMprekSya dezakAlau vayayAgamau vimRzya samyaka ca dhiyA kurvana parAjJò na sIdati ॥ 2-12-23 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन हि यज्ञसमारम्भः केवलात्म विपत्तये भवतीति समाज्ञाय यत्नतः कार्यम उद्वहन ॥ २-१२-२४ ॥
'Knowing that the wise never face adversity because they always act after thorough consideration, Yudhishthira decided that the sacrifice should not commence based solely on his own resolution.' ॥ 2-12-24 ॥

na hi yajJasamArambhaH kevalAtma vipattaye bhavatIti samAjJAya yatnataH kAryama udvahana ॥ 2-12-24 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस निश्चयार्थं कार्यस्य कृष्णम एव जनार्दनम सर्वलॊकात परं मत्वा जगाम मनसा हरिम ॥ २-१२-२५ ॥
'Bearing the weight of his responsibilities carefully, he considered Krishna, the persecutor of all sinners, as the most suitable person to decide the matter.' ॥ 2-12-25 ॥

sa nizcayArthaM kAryasya kRSNama eva janArdanama sarvalòkAta paraM matvA jagAma manasA harima ॥ 2-12-25 ॥
