सर्वे त्रिकोणनेतारो ग्रहाः शुभफलप्रदाः ॥ पतयस्त्रिषडायानां यदि पापफलप्रदाः ॥ ६ ॥
All planets that are lords of trines (trikona) give auspicious results; but if [they are] lords of the 3rd, 6th, and 11th, they give inauspicious results (papaphala).
english translation
न दिशन्ति शुभं नृणां सौम्याः केन्द्राधिपा यदि ॥ क्रूराश्चेदशुभं ह्येते प्रबलाश्चोत्तरोत्तराः ॥ ७ ॥
If benefics (saumya) are lords of angles (kendra), they do not give auspiciousness to people; and if [they are] malefics (krura), these indeed [do not give] inauspiciousness; and they are stronger and stronger in succession.
english translation
लग्नाद्व्ययद्वितीयेशौ परेषां साहचर्य्यतः ॥ स्थानान्तरानुगुण्येन भवतः फलदायकौ ॥ ८ ॥
The lords of the 12th and the 2nd from the ascendant (lagna) give results through association (sahacharya) with others, according to the nature of the other place [they hold].

भाग्यव्ययाधिपत्येन रन्ध्रेशो न शुभप्रदः ॥ स एव शुभसन्धाता लग्नाधीशोऽपि चेत्स्वयम् ॥ ९ ॥
Through lordship of the 9th and 12th (bhagya-vyaya), the Lord of the 8th (randhresha) is not a giver of auspiciousness; he alone is a conferrer of auspiciousness if he himself is also the Lord of the ascendant (lagna).

केन्द्राधिपत्यदोषस्तु बलवान् गुरुशुक्रयोः ॥ मारकत्वेऽपि च तयोर्मारकस्थानसंस्थितिः ॥ १० ॥
The defect of angular lordship (kendradhipatya-dosha) is strong in Jupiter and Venus; and even their death-inflicting status (marakatva) [depends on] their occupation of a death-inflicting house (maraka-sthana).
