निवसेतां व्यत्ययेन तावुभौ धर्म्मकर्म्मणोः ॥ एकत्रान्यतरो वापि वसेच्चेद्योगकारकौ ॥ १६ ॥
If those two reside in exchange (vyatyaya) in the 9th and the 10th (dharma, karma), or [both] together in one [house], or even one of them [in the other's house], they are yoga-makers (yogakaraka).
english translation
त्रिकोणाधिपयोर्मध्ये सम्बन्धो येन केनचित् ॥ केन्द्रनाथस्य बलिनो भवेद्यदि सुयोगकृत् ॥ १७ ॥
If either of the two lords of trines (trikonadhipa) has a relationship (sambandha) of any kind with a strong lord of an angle (kendra), it makes an excellent yoga (suyoga).
english translation
दशास्वपि भवेद्योगः प्रायशो योगकारिणोः ॥ दशाद्वयीमध्यगतस्तदयुक्शुभकारिणाम् ॥ १८ ॥
The yoga generally takes effect in the periods (dasha) of the two yoga-makers (yogakarin) as well, and [in the periods] of auspicious-result-givers (shubhakarin) unconnected with them (tad-ayuk) that fall between those two periods.
english translation
योगकारकसम्बन्धात्पापिनोऽपि ग्रहाः स्वतः ॥ तत्तद्भुक्त्यनुसारेण दिशेयुर्योगजं फलम् ॥ १९ ॥
Through association with a yoga-maker (yogakaraka), even planets that are naturally malefic (papa) should, according to their respective subperiods (bhukti), give the result produced by the yoga (yogaja-phala).

केन्द्रत्रिकोणाधिपयोरेकत्वे योगकारकौ ॥ अन्यत्रिकोणपतिना सम्बन्धो यदि किं परम् ॥ २० ॥
When the Lords of an angle (kendra) and a trine (trikona) are one [and the same], [they are] yoga-makers (yogakaraka); if [there is] a relationship with the Lord of another trine, what more [could there be]?
