गुरुजनानुज्ञातानां करणमुपवासानाम् परिचारकैः शुचिभिराज्ञाधिष्ठितैरनुमतेन क्रयविक्रयकर्मणा सारस्यापूरणं तनूकरणं च शक्त्या व्ययानाम् ॥ ४६ ॥
She practices fasting according to her parents-in-law's instructions. She must supervise the servants so that they are clean and obedient. She must content herself with the minimum in buying and selling, and must seek to reduce expenditure.
english translation
उपवास एवं अर्थ-व्यवस्था सास-ससुर की अनुमति से ही व्रतोपवास करें। ईमानदार और आज्ञाकारी नौकरों के माध्यम से क्रय-विक्रय कर धनाभाव को पूरा करे और व्यय में यथासम्भव कमी लाये ॥ ४६ ॥

आगते च प्रकृतिस्थाया एव प्रथमतो दर्शनं दैवतपूजनमुपहाराणां चाहरणमिति प्रवासचर्या ॥ ४७ ॥
When her husband returns, he must first see what state she is in. Together, they make an offering to the gods, after which she greets him.

प्रोषितपतिका के रूप में ही दर्शन-पति के प्रवास से लौटने पर पहली बार पत्नी प्रोषितपतिका के ही रूप में दिखे; उसकी वापसी पर पत्नी देवपूजन करे और भेंट चढ़ाये। यह प्रवासचर्या पूर्ण हुई ॥ ४७ ॥

भवतश्चात्र श्लोकौ - तद्वृत्तमनुवर्तेत नायकस्य हितैषिणी । कुलयोषा पुनर्भूर्वा वेश्या वाप्येकचारिणी ॥ धर्ममर्थं तथा कामं लभन्ते स्थानमेव च। निःसपलं च भर्तारं नार्यः सद्वृत्तमाश्रिताः ॥ ४८ ॥
Two verses in this connection: "She who wishes the hero's well-being leads an irreproachable life as suits a single wife, whether she comes from a good family or is an ex-courtesan. Women protected by good conduct obtain respectability, riches and love, a social status as well as a protector [bhartara] without other wives."

इस विषय में दो आनुवंश्य श्लोक प्राप्त होते हैं- एकचारिणी भार्या का चाहे वह कुलवधू हो, पुनर्भू हो अथवा वेश्या हो, यह कर्तव्य है कि वह अपने पति की हितैषिणी बनकर सदाचार का पालन करे। स्त्रियाँ सदाचार पर चलकर ही धर्म, अर्थ, काम, प्रतिष्ठा और सपत्नी (सौत) विहीन पति प्राप्त करती हैं ॥ ४८ ॥
