रक्तसुमाक्षतगन्धैः संपूज्य दिवाकरं नमस्कृत्य। प्रष्टा स्वशक्तिविभवैर्दैवज्ञं पूजयेद्ग्रहान् ध्यात्वा॥१६॥
After performing Puja (worship) to the Sun-God with red flowers, camphor, rice and sandal and saluting him and worshipping the planets, the querist may honour the astrologer according to his means.

आयुःप्रमाणमस्मिन् गतागतं वर्तमानमशुभशुभम्। एतत्सर्वं श्रोतुं भवत्प्रसादात् प्रयोगमिच्छामि॥१७॥
“I wish to know the probable length of life, the good and bad in the past, present and the future ; all these results, I want to hear through your favour”.

प्रारभ्य सन्मुहूर्ते सुचन्द्रताराबलान्विते प्रष्टुः। जातमखिलं च विलिखेन्नान्यमनाः स्वायुरादिकं प्रष्टुः॥१८॥
Commencing at an auspicious Muhurta, when the Moon is benefic and endowed with the strength of the Nakshatra occupied by her, the astrologer should give an account in writing of all that has happened, that is now happening, and is going to happen, as regards the querist, and his longevity, etc., with the equanimity of mind.

फलदं ज्योतिश्चक्रं ग्रहर्क्षचारस्तथैव गुणकारः। दैवज्ञः कालनरश्चैवं संभावयेन्नर श्रेष्ठः॥१९॥
The Zodiac is fully effective; the planets and their transit through the several signs of the Zodiac is similarly productive of (good) effects. The astrologer and the Kala purusha—all these, the person concerned should duly honour with suitable presents.

पृथुविरचितमन्यैः शास्त्रमेतत्समस्तं तदनुलघुमयेदं तत्प्रदिष्टार्थमेव। कृतमिह हि समर्थ धीविषाणामलत्वे मम यदि न सदुक्तं सज्जनैः क्षम्यतां तत्॥२०॥
The whole of this has been composed by me, in a succinct manner after a perusal of the meaning of the exhaustive works by others on the subject. I have only abridged them for sharpening the intellect of my readers. If anything has been done or described incorrectly through my ignorance, I crave the indulgence of the benevolent public to excuse the same.
