पाताले यद्विशति सुषिरं मेरुमूलं तदस्ति' तत्वं चैतद्वदति सुधा तन्मुखं निम्नगानाम् I चन्द्रात्सारं स्रवति' वपुषस्तेन मृत्युर्नराणाम् तदद्बध्नीयात्सुखरतिमृदु'र्नान्यथा कार्यसिद्धिः ॥४-३०॥
The learned holds that the aperture, which is located at the base of the spine, is the fountain-head of consciousness. mortal dies because the ambrosia flowing from the moon moves down. By restraining this with the process giving pleasure-(khechari mudra), one can attain success (in laya) and not otherwise.

विद्वान मानते हैं कि छिद्र, जो रीढ़ के आधार पर स्थित है, चेतना का स्रोत है। मनुष्य मर जाता है क्योंकि चंद्रमा से निकलने वाला अमृत नीचे चला जाता है। आनंद देने वाली प्रक्रिया- (खेचरी मुद्रा) के साथ इसे नियंत्रित करके, व्यक्ति सफलता (लय में) प्राप्त कर सकता है, अन्यथा नहीं।
