न देवो विद्यते काष्ठे न पाषाणे न मृण्मये । भावे हि विद्यते देवस्तस्माद्भावो हि कारणम् ॥११II

sanskrit

Gods are neither in wood, nor in stone, nor even in idols made of clay. Certainly God exists in the feeling (heart), hence feeling is the supreme cause.

शान्तितुल्यं तपो नास्ति न सन्तोषात्परं सुखम् । अपत्यं च कलत्रं च सतां सङ्गतिरेव च ॥१२II

There is no penance like peace. There is no happiness greater than contentment, no disease greater than thirst and no religion greater than kindness.

Anger is Yamraj, thirst is Vaitarani river, knowledge is Kamadhenu and contentment is Indra's garden.

गुणो भूषयते रूपं शीलं भूषयते कुलम् । प्रासादशिखरस्थोऽपि काकः किं गरुडायते ॥१४II

Qualities enhance the beauty of appearance, modesty enhances the beauty of the family. Siddhi enhances the beauty of knowledge and enjoyment enhances the beauty of wealth.

निर्गुणस्य हतं रूपं दुःशीलस्य हतं कुलम् । असिद्धस्य हता विद्या ह्यभोगेन हतं धनम् ॥१५II

The appearance of a person without virtue is worthless, the family of a wicked person is condemned, without accomplishment it is worthless, without enjoyment, wealth is worthless.
