तरुतालीविदलाम्बरसलिलजशरचर्मपट्टलेखाः स्युः । द्वात्रिंशत्प्रविभक्ते दिक्चक्रे तेषु कार्याणि ॥ ८६-७६ ॥
Omens (śākuna) occurring in the eight quarters beginning from the east refer to wood in general, the palm, split bamboo, cloth, productions of water, arrows, leather, and shawls, and to letters of advice regarding them. Omens occurring in any of the thirty-two points of the horizon indicate dealing or business with the persons referring to them.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptव्यायामशिखिनिकूजितकलहाम्भोनिगडमन्त्रगोशब्दाः । वर्णास्तु रक्तपीतककृष्णसिताः कोणगा मिश्राः ॥ ८६-७७ ॥
Effects of omens appearing in the eight quarters beginning from the east will occur respectively in place of physical exercise, fire, indistinct sound, quarrel, water, fetters, mantras and cows. The four prime quarters are respectively red, yellow, black and white, and the colour of a sub-quarter is a mixture of the colours of the two adjacent prime quarters.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptचिह्नं ध्वजो दग्धं अथ श्मशानं दरी जलं पर्वतयज्ञघोषाः । एतेषु संयोगभयानि विन्द्याद् अन्यानि वा स्थानविकल्पितानि ॥ ८६-७८ ॥
Omens appearing in the eight quarters beginning from the east, take effect respectively in caves, water, hill, places of sacrifice and the abodes of shepherds; these are also places of meeting, fear, loss and the like referred to in connection with several quarters.

cihnaM dhvajo dagdhaM atha zmazAnaM darI jalaM parvatayajJaghoSAH । eteSu saMyogabhayAni vindyAd anyAni vA sthAnavikalpitAni ॥ 86-78 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्त्रीणां विकल्पा बृहती कुमारी व्यङ्गा विगन्धा त्वथ नीलवस्त्रा । कुस्त्री प्रदीर्घा विधवा च ताश्च संयोगचिन्ता परिवेदिकाः स्युः ॥ ८६-७९ ॥
When the question refers to women, omens appearing in the several quarters beginning from the east point to women who are big, young, of defective organs, dirty, dressed in blue cloth, mean, tall and widowed respectively.

strINAM vikalpA bRhatI kumArI vyaGgA vigandhA tvatha nIlavastrA । kustrI pradIrghA vidhavA ca tAzca saMyogacintA parivedikAH syuH ॥ 86-79 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपृच्छासु रूप्यकनकऽतुरभामिनीनां मेषाव्ययानमखगोकुलसंश्रयासु । न्यग्रोधरक्ततरुरोध्रककीचकाख्याश् चूतद्रुमाः खदिरबिल्वनगार्जुनाश्च ॥ ८६-८० ॥
The four prime quarters beginning from the east refer to silver, gold, sick patients and to women and also to sheep, carriage, sacrificial rite and cow-shed. The eight quarters beginning from the east refer to the banyan tree, the red tree, the Rodhra, the bamboo, the mango, the Khadira, the Bilva and the Arjuna trees respectively.
