ऐन्द्र्यां दिशि शान्तायां विरुवन्नृपसंश्रितऽगमं वक्ति । पूजालाभं मणिरत्नद्रव्यसम्प्राप्तिम् ॥ ८७-०१ ॥

sanskrit

If the omen be the cry of a creature in the eastern quarter॥ 1॥ when such quarter is benefic there will be a meeting with an officer of the king and the gain of presents, precious gems, wealth and excellent articles.

english translation

aindryAM dizi zAntAyAM viruvannRpasaMzrita'gamaM vakti । pUjAlAbhaM maNiratnadravyasamprAptim ॥ 87-01 ॥

तदनन्तरदिशि कनकऽगमो भवेद्वाञ्छितार्थसिद्धिश्च । आयुधधनपूगफलऽगमस्तृतीये भवेद्भागे ॥ ८७-०२ ॥

sanskrit

If the omen be the cry of a creature in the next (2nd) benefic quarter, there will be gain of gold and of a desired object. And if in the 3rd benefic quarter, there will be gain of weapons, of wealth and of betel nuts.

स्निग्धद्विजस्य सन्दर्शनं चतुर्थे तथाआहिताग्नेश्च । कोणे अनुजीविभिक्षुप्रदर्शनं कनकलोहऽप्तिः ॥ ८७-०३ ॥

If the omen be the cry of a creature in the 4th benefic quarter, there will be meeting with a person of the twice-born class and with a Brāhmaṇa who performs the fire ceremony of Agnihotra, and if in the 5th benefic quarter (south-east), there will be a meeting with a servant or an ascetic and a gain of gold and metals.

snigdhadvijasya sandarzanaM caturthe tathAAhitAgnezca । koNe anujIvibhikSupradarzanaM kanakaloha'ptiH ॥ 87-03 ॥

If the omen be the cry of a creature in the 6th benefic quarter, there will be a meeting with a prince and the gain of a desired object, and if in the 7th quarter, there will be the gain of a woman, of virtue, of mustard seeds and barley grain.
