भारार्धतनुः सुखभाक्तुलितो अतो दुःखभाग्भवत्यूनः । भारो अतिवाढ्यानां अध्यर्धः सर्वधरणीशः ॥ ६८-१०६ ॥

If the weight (māna) of the body be half a bhāra or 80 lbs., the person will live in comfort, if less, he will be afflicted with grief; if the weight be a bhāra (160 lbs.), he will be rich; and if it be a bhāra and a half (240 lbs.), he will be an emperor.

english translation

bhArArdhatanuH sukhabhAktulito ato duHkhabhAgbhavatyUnaH । bhAro ativADhyAnAM adhyardhaH sarvadharaNIzaH ॥ 68-106 ॥

विंशतिवर्षा नारी पुरुषः खलु पञ्चविंशतिभिरब्दैः । अर्हति मानौन्मानं जीवितभागे चतुर्थे वा ॥ ६८-१०७ ॥

The measurement of both height and weight is to be taken at the age of 20 in the case of women and 25 in the case of men, or it may be done in the last quarter of life.

भूजलशिख्यनिलाम्बरसुरनररक्षः पिशाचकतिरश्चाम् । सत्त्वेन भवति पुरुषो लक्षणं एतद्भवति तेषाम् ॥ ६८-१०८ ॥

Man is of the nature (prakṛti) of the earth, water, fire, wind, ākāśa (ether), the Devas, the Naras, or the animals and birds. We shall describe each.

bhUjalazikhyanilAmbarasuranararakSaH pizAcakatirazcAm । sattvena bhavati puruSo lakSaNaM etadbhavati teSAm ॥ 68-108 ॥

महीस्वभावः शुभपुष्पगन्धः सम्भोगवान्सुश्वसनः स्थिरश्च । तोयस्वभावो बहुतोयपायी प्रियाभिभाषी रसभाजनश् च ॥ ६८-१०९ ॥

A person of the nature of earth will be of the odour of good flowers, will indulge in sexual intercourse, and will be of good breeding and of firm mind. A person of the nature of water, will drink much water, will be fond of women and will eat juicy meals.

mahIsvabhAvaH zubhapuSpagandhaH sambhogavAnsuzvasanaH sthirazca । toyasvabhAvo bahutoyapAyI priyAbhibhASI rasabhAjanaz ca ॥ 68-109 ॥

अग्निप्रकृत्या चपलो अतितीक्ष्णश् चण्डः क्षुधऽलुर्बहुभोजनश्च । वायोः स्वभावेन चलः कृशश्च क्षिप्रं च कोपस्य वशं प्रयाति ॥ ६८-११० ॥

A person of the nature of fire will be hasty and thoughtless, wicked and cruel, angry, hungry and gluttonous. A person of the nature of the wind will be fickle-minded, thin and of irascible temper.

agniprakRtyA capalo atitIkSNaz caNDaH kSudha'lurbahubhojanazca । vAyoH svabhAvena calaH kRzazca kSipraM ca kopasya vazaM prayAti ॥ 68-110 ॥
